Tirgan festival
Tirgan festival
فره کیانی- When the day of Tir is equal to the month of Tir, a joyous festival called Tirgan is held. Tir is called Tishtriya in Avesta and Tishtar in Pahlavi. In the Avesta and Irgath writings, Tir is the name of a god who helps in raining. In Iranian beliefs, Tir was the name of a star that promises rain whenever it appears in the sky.
There are stories about how and the date of this celebration, which we will mention now.
A group believes that this celebration is in memory of Arash Kamangir. At that time, Afrasiab's army had conquered a large part of the vast land of Iran and had besieged King Manouchehr of Iran in Tabaristan.. The two armies sat down to compromise, and it was decided that someone would shoot an arrow from Damavand peak, and wherever this arrow landed on the ground, the border between Iran and Turan would be.. Therefore, a fighter from Iran who was famous in archery was chosen for this task. Arash gave all his life and energy and released the arrow that carried his life.. The arrow released from Jan Arash flew in the sky from morning to noon, passed through mountains and plains until it landed on a walnut tree by the Jihun river.. They considered that place as the border between Iran and Turan.
Tirgan festival
Another story told for the Tirgan festival goes back to the drought during the time of King Firuz of the Sassanid era. During the reign of this king, it did not rain for seven years and many people died and the lands dried up. The king and the people prayed to the Lord for rain, and after that it began to rain and the land of Iran was freed from drought.. It is the victory of the rain star Tishter over the drought demon Opush.Today, Zoroastrians and some friends of Iran have honored this festival and worked hard to hold it. The day before the celebration, the house and outside are swept and cleaned. Then they wash their head and body and wear new clothes. One of the characteristics of Tirgan is that women tie the thread of arrow and wind to their wrists and leave it to the wind on a high place on the day of the wind, which will be ten days after that.. It is mentioned in Nesk from Nowruz to Nowruz that in Kerman, the younger ones sing this poem together with the bow and arrow.:
Arrow go, wind come, sadness go, joy come
Mahnt Bro Rozi Bia Khoshe Marwari Bia
