Al-Mu'afiq, the brother of the Caliph, who was the ruler of the country, sent a messenger to Yaqub stating that the province of Balkh, Takharistan, and Sistan belonged to Yaqub.. Yaqub also captured Balkh and moved towards Kabul and captured the governor of Kabul and captured the city. After that, he went to Herat and from there to Nishapur, and he captured the ruler of Khorasan, Mohammad Bin Tahir, along with his subjects and sent them to Sistan.. From there, he went to Tabaristan to fight Hassan bin Zaid Alavi there.

Hassan was defeated in this battle and fled to the land of Dilman. Yaqub went from Sari to Amol and after collecting a year's tribute, he went to Dilaman. On the way, many of his troops were killed due to rain and he wandered for forty days. Yaqub sent a messenger to the caliph stating that he had conquered Tabaristan and isolated Hassan, hoping that he would meet the caliph's wishes..
