مهتا (death) Sardar Dilmian and the fight against the Arabs

After the rise of Islam, when the Arabs invaded Iran, the Sassanid dynasty fell with the heavy defeat of Yazdgerd, and with the growing spread of Islam in Iran, the Arabs gained a lot of influence in Iran and the whole land of Iran fell to the Arabs. One of the areas that stubbornly resisted the Arab invasion was northern Iran, especially the land of Gilan.. . In the mountains of the southern Caspian Sea people call them casks, cados and statistics (Residents of Gilan and western Mazandaran today) و تپوریان( Residents of present-day eastern and central Mazandaran) Formed to defend their homeland and the independence of the Arabs (Not only the Arabs but all the invaders of the history of this land) Did not return to their homeland and with all their being and stay all their past history maintained their independence. After a while, the Tapurians made peace with the Arabs, but the Dilmians, unlike the Tapurians, hardly resisted in defending the homeland and confronting the Arabs. They tried to drive them out of Iran.

According to a famous narration, the first battle of Dilmians with Tazians was in the year 22 AH by Mota Sardar or King of Dilmis.. Mehta or Mota, the great general of Deylam, on behalf of Gil Gilanshah (Known as Gaobareh, who was the son of Gilanshah Ibn Firuz from the Gaobargan or Gabergan dynasty, whose throne was Fooman.) He was appointed as the border guard of Petshkhargar, which was the third time during the reign of Yazdgerd. Mehta after the war Nahavand that whip it “Fattah Al-Fattoush” They read, was deeply affected and decided to expel the whips from Iran. Express your intentions with the commanders-in-chief of the IRGC, including Farkhan Zebandi, Sardar Rey and Esfandiar Farrokhzad (Rostam's brother was a famous Iranian general who had recently been killed by thugs in the battle of Qadisiyah.) The commander of the Azerbaijani corps spoke and invited them to cooperate. They also accepted the invitation. But the command of all these divisions and the command of the war was the responsibility of Mota, the leader of Dilmian. They united and commanded Mehta, who was a border guard- And to concentrate forces around the plains(Dastbi or Dashtpi) And they divided the tasks and all of them were ready to attack the attackers.

At that time, the rule of Hamedan was in the hands of Naeem Ibn Muqrin and he planned to attack Rey and seize it after consolidating his time.. At this time, Yazdgerd had left western Iran. When Na'im ibn Muqrin heard of the readiness and gathering of these armies, he became terrified and wrote a letter to Umar, their second caliph.. He fled from Hamedan with all his forces and Mehta launched the first attack on the Tazian forces in the Dastbi plain.(دشتبی)" Did. In the area of "Vajrud" and according to a narration in the area of "Dakan and Jerandov" which is located between Qazvin and Hamedan, a fierce battle took place.. Many people were lost from the two forces, including Mehta, the commander-in-chief of the three Iranian forces, and Amir Dilmian, who fell on his faith and patriotism so as not to give the homeland to the invaders.( Of course, according to another narration, in the beginning, Mehta and his allies ended this war in their favor and besieged the whips.. But Naeem ibn Muqrin, by bribing and buying a small tribe, brought his forces behind the Iranian forces one night and opened the dam in the cold of early winter, killing Mehta.).

Mehta's death caused the Iranian army to be unable to stand, to disperse quickly, and each group proceeded to its own province. Farkhan Zebandi's troops marched towards Rey and Esfandiar Farrokhzad's troops marched towards Azerbaijan.. The warriors of Deylam also retreated and regrouped in the "Abharrud" area and prepared for battle again for the sake of the homeland and in memory of Mehta, and of course this battle had no choice and led to the victory of the Arabs.. But the Dilmians continued the defensive and offensive wars by the order of King Gil Gilanshah. Although this war led to defeat and Sardar Dilmay was covered in blood, but the name of Dialmeh and their bravery and courage forever became famous and enduring in the history of Iran..

It seems that the real name of the commander of Gilan at that time was "Mehta", which the Arabs called "Mota" and it is recorded in the same way as Mota in poems, narrations or history..

In any case, Sardar Mehta or Mota was someone who stood up for the defense of his homeland, but his name was not honored as it should be.. May the name and memory of Mehta and the Mehta who fell for the sake of the homeland be cherished and enduring.

At the end of a poem by Fakhreddin Asad Gorgani in which he describes the glory of Dilemistan and the courage and bravery of its people and says:

Qazvin became Deilman on land —— His name was raised in the sky

Deilman land is a solid place—– Start in an army of Gil and Dilam

The night owl from them —— They beat people from afar to sing

The Dilmians, or dynasties of al-Buwayh and al-Ziyar, were the first Iranians to seize power from the invading Arabs and oust them until they conquered Baghdad..
But today, Deilman is unloved, and as a village or district that is the destination of villa builders, and a large part of its historical monuments are looted by illegal diggers and antique dealers.
